Former VfB Stuttgart coach Armin Veh has succeeded Felix Magath at newly crowned Bundesliga champions VfL Wolfsburg on a two-year contract.

Title wins
Aside from his role as coach, Veh has been confirmed as Wolfsburg's sporting director and has also obtained a place on the club's board of management, positions held by his predecessor Magath, who is to take over at FC Schalke 04. The 48-year-old Veh left Stuttgart, who he guided to the title in 2007, in November following a run of disappointing results and joins a Wolfsburg team celebrating a maiden league triumph following Saturday's 5-1 defeat of Werder Bremen.

'Massive challenge'
"I'm very much looking forward to this job; it's a massive challenge for me," said Veh. "We would like to hold on to the top players within the squad and strengthen it with the signing of a further good striker." Wolfsburg will take part in the UEFA Champions League next season for the first time, when they will enter the group stage along with Bundesliga runners-up FC Bayern München.
