An emotional Joaquín has said farewell to Valencia CF after agreeing to join Liga rivals Málaga CF.

Right-winger Joaquín moved to Mestalla from Real Betis Balompié in 2006 and went on to score 18 goals in 158 Liga games. "I want to thank Valencia, their fans and everyone who has made things happen for me at this club," said the 29-year-old. "I've decided to leave because I've finished a cycle here. The club wanted me to stay but I had made a decision."

Málaga plan to unveil Joaquín, capped 51 times by Spain, on Monday. The Andalusian club have already signed Ruud van Nistelrooy, Joris Mathijsen, Diego Buonanotte, Nacho Monreal and Jérémy Toulalan this summer.
