Bolic leaves Gençlerbirligi
Tuesday 21 December 2004Bosnia-Herzegovnian striker Elvir Bolic has had his contract cancelled by Gençlerbirligi SK.
Disappointing campaign
The 33-year-old former international, who joined Gençlerbirligi from Istanbulspor AS last summer, has been allowed to leave after the club failed to impress in the first half of the campaign, going into the winter break in ninth place in the Turkish top division.
Long career
Bolic's long career has seen him play for FK Partizan in the former Yugoslavia, Spanish side Rayo Vallecano as well as Fenerbahçe SK, Gaziantepspor and Galatasaray SK in Turkey. He made 16 appearances for Gençlerbirligi this autumn, scoring twice.
Transfer possibilities
The Ankara club's general manager, Cem Onuk, has hinted that the club may move into the transfer market to strengthen their squad in the new year after removing Bolic from their roster. They take on Kayserispor in the Turkish Cup tomorrow in their final game before the shutdown.
