Main the man for Livingston

Livingston FC have signed Alan Main from Saint Johnstone FC to fill the gap left by departure of regular goalkeeper Javier Sánchez Broto last week.
Joining Amor
Broto moved to Celtic FC leaving Livingston with 19-year-old Davie McEwan as the only goalkeeper on the books with first-team experience. Main, 35, is likely to be installed as the first-choice for the Almondvale outfit after agreeing a two-and-a-half year deal. His arrival follows that of former FC Barcelona and Spain midfield player Guillermo Amor who signed earlier this week.
Broken leg
St Johnstone agreed to let the popular goalkeeper go to reduce salary costs which have blighted the club following relegation from the Scottish Premier League last season. It was no coincidence that demotion into the first division occurred when Main was on the sidelines recovering from a broken leg.

Main said: "My goal has always been to return to the Premier League and I'm very pleased to have done that at Livingston. I had a great time at St Johnstone, but this was a chance I felt I had to take and I'm grateful to them for letting me move on."
Scottish call-up
Main is widely regarded as one of Scotland's top goalkeepers after making his breakthrough at Dundee United FC and becoming a hero at St Johnstone over the last eight seasons. He was involved in the Scotland international set-up as third-choice goalkeeper during the reign of Craig Brown, but failed to win a full cap.
