UEFA Cup: winner 2009
• Willian Borges da Silva joined Sao Paulo club Corinthians as a youth and eventually broke into the first team while still in his teens.
• A lively winger, he helped Brazil to victory in the South American Under-20 Championship in January 2007 and went on to represent his country in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada later that year, reaching the quarter-finals.
• Joined Shakhtar on a five-year contract in August 2007 and won the Ukrainian double in his first season.
• Made over 50 appearances in all competitions during 2008/09, including 17 in Europe, as Shakhtar won the UEFA Cup after transferring in mid-season from the UEFA Champions League; a substitute in all six UEFA Cup games from the round of 16 to the semi-final, he played the full 120 minutes of the showpiece against SV Werder Bremen (2-1).
• Helped Shakhtar to another Premier League title in 2009/10, scoring five goals; added another three before the end of August in 2010/11 and started all six group games on the club's return to the UEFA Champions League.
