UEFA hosts Turkey-England talks

UEFA is to invite representatives from the Turkish and English Football Associations to a meeting.

Progress checked
The meeting will aim to ensure that the spirit of co-operation between the associations is reinforced in the build-up to the match. UEFA director of communications and public affairs Mike Lee said: "We will ask both associations to come together at UEFA's headquarters so that we can monitor progress and check that all of the preparations are in the right shape."

Spirit of co-operation
He added: "The spirit of co-operation that was established at our meeting with the two associations earlier in the summer has to be maintained in the build-up to this match.

Best atmosphere sought
In a separate step UEFA also confirmed that comments attributed to the president of the TFF will be checked and an explanation sought. "It is important that any public statements are calm and appropriate," Lee added. "There is a lot more at stake than simply a football match and everybody involved should act to ensure the best possible atmosphere for the game."
