Vasilev lands Levski return

Georgi Vasilev has been named coach of Bulgarian outfit PFC Levski Sofia for the second time.

One-year contract
Vasilev, who guided Levski to two league titles and one Bulgarian Cup between 1993 and 1995, replaces Georgi Todorov and has signed a contract until the end of the season with an option for another year.

Zhelyazkov role
Former Bulgarian international striker Andrej Zhelyazkov, who played for PFC Slavia Sofia and Feyenoord, also returns to Levski as technical director. Levski, who currently lie fourth in the A PFG table, will take a 1-0 lead into the home leg of their UEFA Cup first-round tie with Israeli side Hapoel Ramat-Gan FC.

Optimistic outlook
"I believe that the current team has ability and a promising future," Vasilev said. "If people are patient, everything will be OK. I will finish the first part of the season with this squad and during the break I will bring in some new players."

Title triumphs
Vasilev has led three different Bulgarian clubs to the league title – Levski, PFC Etar Veliko Tarnovo in 1991 and PFC CSKA Sofia six years later. He has also coached Cypriot sides Nea Salamis FC and Anorthosis Famagusta FC, Germany's 1. FC Union Berlin and PFC Lokomotiv Sofia.
