Newcastle United FC have parted company with Chilean international Clarence Acuña by mutual consent.

Family reasons
The 28-year-old midfield player has been allowed to leave the English Premiership club for personal reasons and the player will be returning to Chile. Acuña joined Newcastle in October 2000 from CF Universidad de Chile, and scored seven goals in 59 appearances for the club.

Quinn farewell
Also leaving the club is left-back Wayne Quinn, who has moved to West Ham United FC on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell. Quinn had moved to Newcastle in January 2001 from Sheffield United FC, but played just 24 times for the north-east club.
