Zaccheroni replaces Cúper

The former AC Milan coach Alberto Zaccheroni has taken charge of Internazionale FC after Héctor Cúper's sacking.

UEFA Champions League hopefuls Internazionale FC have appointed former AC Milan coach Alberto Zaccheroni following the dismissal of Héctor Cúper.

Derby defeat
Cúper was shown the door by Inter president Massimo Moratti after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Brescia Calcio, hot on the heels of the derby defeat against Milan a fortnight ago.

Verdelli role
Zaccheroni, who has been without a club since being sacked by S.S. Lazio in the summer of 2002, will take charge after the Milan club's Champions League Group B encounter away against FC Lokomotiv Moskva on Tuesday, which youth coach Corrado Verdelli will oversee.

Milan success
Zaccheroni steered Milan to the Serie A title in 1999 after leading Udinese Calcio to third place the previous season. Inter are currently seven points behind Serie A leaders Juventus FC but club vice-president Giacinto Facchetti said: "We want to thank Cúper for the job he has done for us in the last two years."
