Miller forced on to sidelines

Celtic FC midfield player Liam Miller has been injured just a day after agreeing to join Manchester United FC.

Celtic FC midfield player Liam Miller has been ruled out for eight weeks just a day after deciding to join Manchester United FC next season.

Pelvic injury
The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international has been diagnosed with a pelvic injury that is likely to keep him out of both legs of Celtic's UEFA Cup third round tie with FK Teplice on 26 February and 3 March. On Friday he signed a pre-contract agreement to leave the unbeaten Scottish Premier League leaders for United on a free transfer on 1 July.

News confirmed
Confirming the news of the injury, Celtic manager Martin O'Neill said: "Liam has a pelvic injury, but if he comes back in time then he will still be a Celtic player and I'd be perfectly within my rights to use him." He already has Johan Mjallby out for six weeks following a knee operation, while Bobo Balde is travelling to represent Guinea in the African Cup of Nations.
