Pinilla boosts Celta options

RC Celta de Vigo have sealed the loan signing of AC Chievo Verona's Chilean striker Mauricio Pinilla.

RC Celta de Vigo have sealed the loan signing of AC Chievo Verona striker Mauricio Pinilla until the end of the season.

Option to buy
Celta have the option to buy Pinilla, 19, outright after his loan period has expired. Coach Miguel Ángel Lotina said of the Chilean: "We are not expecting him to transform the team but he will certainly be able to help us out during this difficult period."

Welcome tonic
Pinilla's arrival should provide a welcome tonic for Celta, who are struggling at the wrong end of the Primera División table. Despite progressing to the UEFA Champions League last 16, injuries and a loss of form have afflicted Celta this season and they were in the relegation zone before last weekend's 4-2 win at RCD Mallorca.

Arsenal tie
The Galicians face Arsenal FC in the Champions League first knockout round next month and Pinilla will be eligible for the competition.
