Czechs without injured trio

The Czech Republic will be without Milan Baroš, Vladimír Šmicer and Tomás Ujfaluši for their friendly against Italy.

Voříšek chance
Coach Karel Brückner has named an 18-man squad for the fixture which includes 24-year-old midfield player Petr Voříšek, who moved from FK Teplice to AC Sparta Praha in the biggest transfer of the Czech winter break and has previously won just two caps.

Baroš recovering
Liverpool FC striker Baroš is still recovering from a broken leg sustained last September and has played only reserve-team football since. Liverpool team-mate Šmicer has been out of action since 4 January with an achilles tendon problem. Meanwhile, Hamburger SV defender Ujfaluši is recuperating after knee surgery.

Unbeaten run
As EURO 2004™ approaches, the Czechs are on an unbeaten run of 19 games. In Portugal they will face Latvia, the Netherlands and Germany in Group D.
