Chelsea complete Cech deal

Petr Cech will join Chelsea FC in a €10.3m transfer from Stade Rennais FC at the end of the season.

Chelsea FC have completed the €10.3m transfer of Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech from Stade Rennais FC. The 21-year-old will join the London club on a five-year contract in the summer.

'Signed on Monday'
A statement from Rennes said: "Petr Cech's transfer was signed on Monday between Rennes and Chelsea. The Czech international will leave Brittany at the end of the season."

First choice for Czechs
Cech joined Rennes in 2002 from AC Sparta Praha after helping the Czech Republic win that year's UEFA European Under-21 Championship. One of Europe's most promising young goalkeepers he conceded only five goals in eight UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers and will be his country's first-choice keeper in Portugal this summer.
