• A youth international and member of the Colombia team that played in the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup, he made his senior debut in May 2006 before becoming a regular in 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying, making 11 appearances.

• A Liga winner in 2008/09 (15 substitute appearances), he scored in Porto's cup final victory against GD Chaves (2-1) the following campaign.

•  Played a key role in Porto's UEFA Europa League triumph in 2010/11 by scoring in every knockout round up to and including the semi-final against Villarreal CF − the first UEFA club competition goals of his career.
