Silvestre out of Porto showdown

Manchester United FC's Mikaël Silvestre is set to miss both legs of their tie against FC Porto through injury.

Manchester United FC have suffered a setback with the news that Mikaël Silvestre will be out of action for the next three weeks with ankle ligament damage, almost certainly ruling him out of both legs of United's UEFA Champions League tie against FC Porto.

Smith collision
The 26-year-old French international defender limped off during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Leeds United AFC after a collision with opposing forward Alan Smith.

'Big blow'
"It is a big blow for us but we will just have to get on with it," said United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, whose side travel to Portugal for the first leg on Wednesday and then host the return at Old Trafford on 9 March.
