5 Estonia beat the Faroe Islands 5-0 in Tallinn in the first UEFA EURO 2000 qualifier on 4 June 1998. The nations will meet again in the same city in the opening 2012 preliminary on 11 August.

10 Germany's appearance at UEFA EURO 2008 was their 10th qualification in a row, making the sole three-time champions the first nation to reach double figures.

12 Consecutive EURO qualifying wins for France from their 3-2 victory in Armenia on 8 September 1999 until their 1-0 loss in Scotland on 7 October 2006.

13 Germany's 13-0 triumph in San Marino in 2008 qualifying was the biggest winning margin in the competition's history, beating the 12-1 victory against Malta that took Spain to the 1984 finals.

18 Including qualifying, Spain, Germany and Portugal all played 18 games in UEFA EURO 2008, the longest campaigns to date. That could be equalled in 2012 if a team from one of the six-team qualifying groups progress via the play-offs and reach the final.

20 Hakan Şükür's record number of EURO qualifying goals, one ahead of Jon Dahl Tomasson. Both share the overall record of 22 including final tournaments.

24 UEFA European Championship wins in charge of Germany for 1996 winner Berti Vogts, the highest for any coach.

33 Number of goals scored by Slovakia in 2008 qualifying only to finish fourth in their 12-game group.

42 Record number of goals in one qualifying campaign, scored by Spain in eight UEFA EURO 2000 preliminaries. They conceded only five, three in their opening 3-2 loss in Cyprus.

47 Lilian Thuram's number of UEFA European Championship appearances, qualifying included, puts him eight clear of his nearest rival. Armenia defender Sargis Hovsepyan's tally of 37 is the highest in qualifying alone.

272 Number of goals scored by Spain in their 127 EURO games, 21 higher than the second-best tally of the Netherlands.

2,267 UEFA European Championship matches played in total...

5,649 ...and the number of goals in all from Ilyin's opener to Fernando Torres's UEFA EURO 2008 winner.
