FYROM's first win leaves Andorra point-less

Andorra 0-2 FYROM
Ilco Naumoski and Vance Sikov struck as the visitors recorded their first Group B win and left Jesús Álvarez's side without a point.

The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia moved on to four points in Group B of UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying thanks to a 2-0 victory in Andorra.

FYROM, who picked up their first points in the section with a 2-2 draw against Armenia last month, now have a maiden win to their name. Ilco Naumoski set the ball rolling for Mirsad Jonuz's side three minutes before half-time and Vance Sikov assured them of victory on the hour. It marked a measure of revenge for the away side, who took just a solitary point from Andorra in their two 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Though Andorra had lost both of their opening UEFA EURO 2012 qualifiers, they stayed on level terms for 42 minutes in Andorra la Vella, Naumoski breaking the deadlock courtesy of a clinical header from Vlade Lazarevski's corner. The hosts were undeterred, however, and nearly restored parity just two minutes after the interval when Sebastiàn Gómez was denied by the alertness of Edin Nuredinovski.

That was as good as it got for Andorra, who found themselves two down after an hour when they once again failed to deal with a corner – this time from substitute Mario Gjurovski – and Sikov pounced. José Antonio Gómes prevented another replacement, Agim Ibraimi, adding a third three minutes from time, but the damage had already been done, leaving FYROM in high spirits ahead of the visit of Russia on Tuesday, when Andorra go to Armenia.
