Mexes among Auxerre casualties

AJ Auxerre have lost Philippe Mexes, Johan Radet and Jean-Alain Boumsong for their tie against PSV Eindhoven.

AJ Auxerre have lost three key defenders for both legs of their fourth-round tie against PSV Eindhoven.

Radet out
Along with the confirmation that Johan Radet will be out for up to a month with a hamstring strain, Philippe Mexes and Jean-Alain Boumsong will also be sidelined for the two matches.

France friendly
Mexes has a strained calf muscle while Boumsong has a fractured eye socket and both are unlikely to play again until April. Auxerre coach Guy Roux will likely have to pair Jean-Joël Perrier-Doumbé and Stéphane Grichting in central defence in the absence of his two French internationals, who will probably also miss the friendly against the Netherlands on 31 March.

Kapo ban
Striker Olivier Kapo will also miss Thursday's first leg against PSV through suspension but will be available for the return in the Netherlands in two weeks
