Seydou Keita has signed a two-year contract extension with UEFA Champions League contenders FC Barcelona.

The midfielder's deal, which was due to expire in 2012, will be renewed each year until 2014 should the 30-year-old make a certain number of appearances for the Liga club. His buy-out clause has been set at €100m. The Malian international joined the Azulgrana in summer 2008 from Sevilla FC, winning the UEFA Champions League at the end of his first season, the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, two Liga titles, a Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.

The former Olympique de Marseille, FC Lorient and RC Lens player said: "I'll play for a third year here and I've won everything, but I want to keep winning. I hope to retire here; this is my dream." Josep Guardiola's team begin their UEFA Champions League Group D campaign at home to Panathinaikos FC on 14 September with FC København and FC Rubin Kazan to come.
