Nenê sends PSG past Sevilla into last 32

Paris Saint-Germain FC 4-2 Sevilla FC
A virtuoso display by Brazilian playmaker Nenê helped guide PSG into the last 32 and left Sevilla with work still to do on Matchday 6.

Nenê orchestrated Paris Saint-Germain FC's 4-2 defeat of Sevilla FC in Group J on Thursday to ease the French club into the last 32.

The Brazilian scored the winner in Spain on Matchday 1, and again proved the difference between the two sides, providing the corners that allowed Mathieu Bodmer and Guillaume Hoarau to put PSG two ahead after 20 minutes.

A delightful Nenê effort then put the hosts back in front before the break after Frédéric Kanouté's double had restored parity, and Hoarau struck again just after the restart to ensure PSG would finish in the top two. Sevilla now require a point from their final game at home to Borussia Dortmund to progress.

Ndri Romaric rattled a post as the visitors showed early poise in the French capital before the hosts seized the initiative in the space of three minutes. First, Bodmer swivelled to turn the ball in after Zoumana Camara's header dropped invitingly before Hoarau angled a near-post header into the far corner from another unerring Nenê delivery.

Clément Chantôme should have added a third soon after, and Sevilla capitalised by mirroring the hosts' own goal flurry. PSG conceded a first goal in eight European home games when Kanouté headed firmly beyond Apoula Édel, and barely four minutes later the ex-Olympique Lyonnais striker touched in a Diego Perrotti cross.

Nenê, though, tilted the tie back in PSG's favour in sublime fashion in the final minute of the half, controlling the ball and spinning to curl a shot past a stationary Andrés Palop in one fluid movement.

The Sevilla goalkeeper was beaten again soon after the interval when Chantôme sent Hoarau racing clear to add a fourth. Sevilla's Julien Escudé struck the bar with a flicked header while Camara hit a post from close range as Antoine Kombouaré's men stretched their unbeaten home record to 13 European games.
