Wenger revels in Arsenal's quality

While Arsène Wenger was left with plenty of positives after Arsenal FC overwhelmed SC Braga 6-0, Domingos Paciência feared his side suffered from stage fright on their opening night.

Arsenal FC manager Arsène Wenger was left purring at the "quality" of his side's overall performance and of the "exceptional talent" of midfielders Jack Wilshere and Cesc Fàbregas in particular after the London side began their UEFA Champions League Group H campaign by brushing aside SC Braga 6-0. In contrast, Domingos Paciência bemoaned nerves and costly errors for his side's UEFA Champions League baptism of fire.

Arsène Wenger, Arsenal manager
What pleased me most was the quality of our game collectively. Everyone did something fantastic in patches throughout the game. What is important is that we keep playing at this high quality but we can develop our game further and do even better. When we play so well it's very hard to stop us.

It's fantastic for a player like Wilshere to see a player like Fàbregas; he will learn a lot from him. It's difficult to compare the same players but they both have exceptional talent. I believe it wasn't easy for [Fàbregas] as he was under a lot of pressure, of course. I never doubted that he loves the club. He wants to well as a leader and player and has shown that in his attitude both on and off the pitch.

Domingos Paciência, Braga coach
They are favourites to win the Champions League. We started very nervously and that made it easy for them. We have to be aware of the many bad things we did tonight but also know we can do much, much better. I have confidence in my players and in my team. It was a bad defeat but it is just three points.

We couldn't launch our attacks or keep possession and we made several defensive errors. We are sad we couldn't perform at least a little bit like we have been [in recent games]. From now on everything will be different. I'm sure Braga won't be that nervous again and or shirk our responsibilities like we did in this match. You can't win games with errors like that; there were too many for a single match.
