Ajax midfielder Sno taken to hospital

Evander Sno was kept in hospital overnight after the AFC Ajax midfielder lost consciousness because of suspected heart problems during a reserve team fixture on Monday.

AFC Ajax midfielder Evander Sno was kept in hospital overnight after losing consciousness because of suspected heart problems on Monday.

The 23-year-old passed out 63 minutes into a match for reserve side Jong Ajax against Jong Vitesse/AGOVV. Both teams' club doctors helped Sno back to consciousness with a defibrillator before he was taken to an Arnhem hospital for further examination.

An Ajax statement read: "Evander Sno regained consciousness after treatment. The cause was probably cardiac arrhythmia. Sno came to on the pitch, after which he was transported to hospital."

Former Netherlands Under-21 player Sno joined Ajax in 2008 from Celtic FC. His team begin their UEFA Champions League Group G campaign at Real Madrid CF on Wednesday.
