Carboni continues at Valencia

Valencia CF defender Amedeo Carboni has been awarded a two-year contract extension.

Veteran Valencia CF defender Amedeo Carboni has been awarded a two-year contract extension by the UEFA Cup contenders.

Veteran defender
The 39-year-old Italian arrived at the Mestalla on a free transfer in 1997 following a seven-year spell at AS Roma. Carboni has since held down a regular starting role as the Spanish side's left-back, and was part of the team that won the Primera División title in 2002 and reached consecutive UEFA Champions League finals in 2000 and 2001.

Valuable experience
Carboni, who is likely to retire at the age of 41 when his new deal expires, is one of the most experienced players in Spain, and could accept a role as part of Valencia's technical staff when he eventually hangs up his boots.
