AS Roma midfielder David Pizarro has been ruled out of action for three weeks after picking up a thigh injury in training on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old underwent a scan today after suffering the setback and he will miss the UEFA Champions League game away to FC Basel 1893 next Wednesday, as well as being doubtful for FC Bayern München's visit to Rome on 23 November.

The Giallorossi, who also lost winger Rodrigo Taddei to a calf problem this week, already had a question mark against midfielder Daniele De Rossi's availability for the Basel trip as he recovers from a calf injury sustained on Italy duty earlier this month. Roma lie bottom of Group E with three points from as many matches, but are level on points with Basel and CFR 1907 Cluj.
