FC Spartak Moskva forward Ari has been ruled out for two weeks after tearing an adductor muscle in his left thigh.
The Brazilian striker picked up the injury just before the end of Wednesday's 1-0 Russian league win against FC Zenit St. Petersburg and a scan confirmed the 24-year-old's absence. "I think Ari will be ruled out for two weeks," said Spartak сoach Valeri Karpin. "He will undergo a second medical test on Monday and after that everything will be clear."
Two defenders will also miss the UEFA Champions League Group F trip to Chelsea FC on Wednesday. Sergei Parshivlyuk was ruled out last week, while Martin Stranzl suffered a thigh strain during today's 2-1 Premier League victory against FC Rostov.
Spartak lie second, three points behind Chelsea, having beaten Olympique de Marseille 1-0 and MŠK Žilina 3-0, the latter courtesy of two Ari goals.
