UEFA Champions League group stage contenders FC Spartak Moskva have agreed to sign Club Estudiantes LP defender Marcos Rojo, with the 20-year-old heading to Russia once the winter transfer window opens.

Centre-back Rojo will undergo a medical on 20 November before signing up with coach Valeri Karpin's side and then completing the formalities of the move at the turn of the year.

The left-footed player has scored twice in 35 Argentinian league games for Estudiantes since making his Primera División debut in 2008. The newcomer has a good chance of competing in the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds if Spartak choose to register him, with the Moscow club lying second in Group F ahead of their match at Chelsea FC.
