Runaway Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of Kevin Grosskreutz by two years, keeping the defender at the club until 2014.

The 22-year-old's decision to pen new terms with his hometown team mirrors that of coach Jürgen Klopp, who signed a two-year extension on Thursday. Grosskreutz, capped twice by Germany, joined Dortmund in the summer of 2009 from second-tier outfit Rot Weiss Ahlen.

He has started all four of Dortmund's UEFA Europa League Group J fixtures and scored four goals in 14 Bundesliga appearances this term, the most recent of which came in Saturday's 4-1 defeat of VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach. Third in Group J, three points behind second-placed Paris Saint-Germain FC, Dortmund host struggling FC Karpaty Lviv on Thursday.
