Grosskreutz pens fresh Dortmund terms

Borussia Dortmund's 22-year-old defender Kevin Grosskreutz has followed coach Jürgen Klopp's lead by signing a two-year contract extension with the Bundesliga pacesetters.

Runaway Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of Kevin Grosskreutz by two years, keeping the defender at the club until 2014.

The 22-year-old's decision to pen new terms with his hometown team mirrors that of coach Jürgen Klopp, who signed a two-year extension on Thursday. Grosskreutz, capped twice by Germany, joined Dortmund in the summer of 2009 from second-tier outfit Rot Weiss Ahlen.

He has started all four of Dortmund's UEFA Europa League Group J fixtures and scored four goals in 14 Bundesliga appearances this term, the most recent of which came in Saturday's 4-1 defeat of VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach. Third in Group J, three points behind second-placed Paris Saint-Germain FC, Dortmund host struggling FC Karpaty Lviv on Thursday.
