• Samir Nasri has not featured since picking up a hamstring injury against Huddersfield Town FC on 30 January.

• Łukasz Fabiański is likely to miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a shoulder injury during the warm-up before Arsenal's game with Manchester City FC on 5 January.

• Emmanuel Frimpong has not played since damaging knee ligaments in training in August.

• Thiago Alcántara, Marc Bartra and Andreu Fontàs made their UEFA Champions League debuts against FC Rubin Kazan on Matchday 6, Fontàs scoring his first goal for the club in the 2-0 victory.

• Gerard Piqué is within a booking of suspension.

• The draw halted Barcelona's record 16-match winning run in the Liga, since drawing with RCD Mallorca on 3 October. They passed Real Madrid CF's 1960/61 mark of 15 with a 3-0 victory over Club Atlético de Madrid on 5 February.

• Before Saturday the Catalan outfit had won all ten of their away games in the Liga this season, a club record.

• The goal from David Barral, once on Real Madrid's books, left Barcelona behind for the first time in 16 Liga games.

• Messi hit his fourth hat-trick of the season against Atlético, and has scored 24 goals in 20 Liga games this term.

• Messi has scored 43 goals in 39 games for club and country this season.

• Barça's club record 28-match unbeaten run in all competitions ended when they lost 3-1 at Real Betis Balompié on 19 January in the Copa del Rey quarter-final, second leg. They had won the first meeting 5-0, however, and after an 8-0 aggregate victory over UD Almería they will now face Real Madrid in the final on 20 April.

• Xavi Hernández played his 550th game for Barcelona on 5 January, surpassing Migueli's club record.

• The 8-0 win at Almería on 20 November equalled Barça's record for a Liga away victory. The Camp Nou outfit triumphed by the same scoreline at UD Las Palmas on 25 October 1959.
