Clubs: FC Unirea Dej, CFR 1907 Cluj, FC Oţelul Galaţi (loan), FC Schalke 04

• Deac joined CFR in 2005/06 from Liga II outfit Unirea Dej but played little in his first two seasons and was out on loan at Oţelul when Cluj completed the Romanian double in spring 2008.

• Returned to CFR after positive displays for Oţelul and made two brief appearances in the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League; scored the opening goal in the 2009 Romanian Cup final – 3-0 against FC Timişoara – as CFR retained the trophy.

• Helped CFR to a domestic double in 2009/10, scoring two goals in 24 Liga I appearances.

• An uncapped member of Romania's provisional UEFA EURO 2008 squad, he had to wait until March 2010 for his senior international debut – in a Timisoara friendly against Israel (0-2); made his competitive bow in the opening UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier against Albania (1-1).

• Joined Schalke just before the transfer deadline in August 2010 on a three-year contract.
