• Scored a seven-minute hat-trick for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard against FC Girondins de Bordeaux on 22 January 2005, becoming the youngest player to achieve the feat in the French championship.

• A French youth international in every age group, he was a European champion at U17 level in 2004 and won the UEFA-CAF Meridian Cup the following year, scoring five goals in four matches.

• Joined AS Monaco FC in 2006 and scored seven league goals in each of his two seasons in the Principality before departing for Roma for an initial €10.5m.

• Chiefly a substitute during his first campaign in Rome under coach Luciano Spalletti, scoring four Serie A goals; on target just once in the league under Claudio Ranieri in 2009/10 but more prominent in 2010/11, scoring his first UEFA Champions League goal in 3-2 win at FC Basel 1893.

• Made his full international debut in Laurent Blanc's first match as France coach, a 2-1 defeat by Norway on 11 August 2010.

• Moved back to France and PSG, his home-town club, in July 2011 for a reported €8m, helping the side to a second-placed finish before being selected for France's UEFA EURO 2012 squad, playing three times at the finals and scoring against Ukraine. 

• Enjoyed an excellent 2012/13 with PSG, helping them to a first title since 1994 with five Ligue 1 goals, while scoring twice in seven UEFA Champions League appearances in a run to the quarter-finals.
