• Born in Grenoble, Pied joined Lyon a the age of 14 and, after four years playing in the youth academy, moved to Metz on loan in 2008/09.

• The fleet-footed winger made 37 appearances for the Ligue 2 club, scoring his first professional goal – the first of four - in his third match against Stade Brestois 29 (1-2).

• Recalled for the 2010/11 season and made an immediate impact, scoring his first Lyon goal on his first start for Les Gones − against Valenciennes FC (1-1) − and featuring in all six of their UEFA Champions League Group B fixtures.

• In December 2010 he signed a two-year extension to his contract, tying him to the club until summer 2014.
