• Born in the Swedish town of Kumla, Bengtsson moved to Stockholm at the age of 16, where he developed his game with AIK.

• Made his Allsvenskan breakthrough with AIK in 2008 but lost his place during the club's double-winning season of 2009 and was transferred halfway through to Danish side Nordsjælland.

• Made 20 appearances for the Farum outfit in 2009/10 under ex-Danish international Morten Wieghorst.

• A Superligaen ever-present at left-back for Nordsjælland during the first half of 2010/11, which began in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa League, and sold in January to København on a four-year deal.

• A Swedish Under-21 international, he made his debut for the seniors in a 2-1 friendly win against Botswana – a week before joining FCK.
