Sporting lose Valdés and Grimi for Rangers trip

Sporting Clube de Portugal have been dealt a double blow after Jaime Valdés and Leandro Grimi were ruled out of Thursday's UEFA Europa League round of 32 meeting with Rangers FC.

Jaime Valdés is unlikely to feature in Sporting Clube de Portugal's UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie against Rangers FC after suffering a groin injury on Saturday.

The Chilean international, 30, was forced off before half-time in the 2-2 draw at SC Olhanense after suffering a "violent stretching of his right adductor muscle". He will be unavailable for a minimum two weeks, ruling him out of Thursday's trip to Ibrox and the Estádio José Alvalade return a week later, as well as next Monday's Lisbon derby against SL Benfica.

Leandro Grimi is also out of the reckoning after failing to recover from a left thigh injury he suffered in the pre-match warm-up at Olhanense. There is some good news for coach Paulo Sérgio, as Yannick Djaló is back after a thigh injury that has sidelined him since 3 January.
