Gothenburg ready to receive trophy

FC Porto will hand over the UEFA Cup trophy to the mayor of Gothenburg on Wednesday.

Gothenburg, the venue for this season's UEFA Cup final, will stage the trophy handover ceremony at the Storan Theatre in the city at 14.00CET on Wednesday.

Safekeeping and display
Representatives of FC Porto, the 2003 winners, will present the UEFA Cup to the lord mayor of Gothenburg, Jörgen Linder, for safekeeping and display in the Swedish city until the final, which takes place at the Ullevi stadium on Wednesday 19 May.

Porto representatives
FC Porto will be represented by general manager Diogo Paiva Brandão and defender Ricardo Costa, one of the heroes of their 3-2 final success against Celtic FC in Seville last May.

Eriksson's heroes
England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson - coach of IFK Göteborg's 1982 UEFA Cup-winning side - will also be in attendance. IFK won the UEFA Cup again in 1987 and players from their two cup-winning teams have been invited to the ceremony.

Media representatives
The event is open to the media, and media representatives wishing to attend the ceremony and the press conference afterwards are requested to inform UEFA by email on accreditations@uefa.ch or via telephone on +41-22-9944 559.
