The UEFA Champions League Trophy will be handed over by UEFA to the host city for this season's final, London, at a special ceremony taking place from 12.30 local time on Wednesday 20 April at the Guildhall.

UEFA President Michel Platini will pass on the trophy to the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, as the climax of the ceremony in the Great Hall of the landmark building in the UK capital. The host city will keep hold of the silverware and display it to the public during a trophy tour in the build-up to the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 28 May (kick-off 19.45 local).

The handover event will be attended by the chairman of the English Football Association (FA), David Bernstein, together with the lord mayor of London, Michael Bear, this season's UEFA Champions League final ambassador, former England striker Gary Lineker, and other well-known figures.

The UEFA Champions League Trophy will make as many as 13 visits to venues across London between 20 April and 21 May as part of the trophy tour for the public to enjoy. The European club game's most prestigious prize will be joined on the tour by the UEFA Women's Champions League Trophy, which will be presented to the winner of that competition's final, being played at Craven Cottage in London on Thursday 26 May. Various parts of the city will be treated to a glimpse of both trophies, which will be transported in a specially kitted-out London taxi.

The tour will end when the UEFA Champions League Trophy and its women's equivalent are delivered to London's Hyde Park for the opening ceremony of the UEFA Champions Festival on Saturday 21 May. Full details of the trophy tour will be available on UEFA.com.

Media representatives wishing to attend the trophy handover ceremony at the Guildhall are requested to contact the FA by emailing anna.pitcher@thefa.com for accreditation.
