• Jara started out in his native Argentina with Arsenal Sarandí, making his first-team debut two months before his 20th birthday against AA Argentinos Juniors.

• An Argentinian youth international, he made his senior debut as a substitute in January 2010 during a friendly against Costa Rica and scored the winning goal in a 3-2 victory.

• A few days after his international bow he signed a pre-contract with Benfica to join the Portuguese club in the summer.

• Left Arsenal Sarandí at the end of an impressive 2009/10 campaign in which he scored seven goals in 34 appearances.

• Made only three substitute appearances for Benfica in the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League but improved as the season progressed and scored UEFA Europa League goals against VfB Stuttgart and Paris Saint-Germain FC.
