• A product of the Porto academy, Hélder Barbosa made his senior club debut against Boavista FC on the final day of the 2005/06 season but spoiled it with a red card.

• The winger spent the next 18 months on loan to Liga rivals Académica before returning to Porto in January 2008.

• Farmed out for the 2008/09 campaign to Trofense then the following season to Setúbal, where he was a regular, making 26 league appearances and scoring two goals, the first of them in an 8-1 defeat by SL Benfica, to help the club narrowly avoid relegation.

• Left Porto for good in summer 2010, signing a three-year contract with Braga and taking the No10 shirt.

• A bit-part player in his debut season at Braga but scored in three successive Liga games – against Portimonense SC, old club Setúbal and CS Marítimo – in January/February 2011; his only two European starts came in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie against KKS Lech Poznań.
