Under-21 debut: 2-1 v Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (04/09/2009)

• Made his U21 bow as a late substitute in England's opening qualification match, a narrow victory in Prilep; started the next nine games, and in doing so became the only England player to feature in all ten qualifiers, play-offs included.

• On target on his first appearance for Watford, one of 11 goals he would score from midfield in 33 second-tier matches for the Hornets in 2009/10 – named the club's player of the season despite a knee injury ending his campaign prematurely.

• Yet to make an appearance for United, he gained his first taste of Premier League football during a season-long loan spell with Wigan in 2010/11.
