• Athletic's youngest player and goalscorer, having found the net on his second appearance for the club, against BSC Young Boys (2-1) in a UEFA Europa League third qualifying round tie in August 2009; also became the youngest person to score in the Liga − aged 16 years and 289 days − when he struck in a 2-2 draw at Real Valladolid CF two months later.

• Nicknamed Bart Simpson for his similarity in appearance to the cartoon character − Muniain also has a drawing of Bart on his shinpads.

• Despite being the youngest member of the U21 squad, Muniain has made more than 60 Liga appearances, registering nine goals.
