• Following a couple of loan spells away from the club, Sigurdsson shot to prominence with 16 league goals in 38 second-tier matches from midfield for Reading in 2009/10.

• Started this season with the English club but joined Hoffenheim in late August for around €7m − ended the campaign with nine goals in 29 Bundesliga outings.

• A set-piece specialist, he scored two long-range efforts in the play-off second leg against Scotland.
