• An attacking midfielder, Costanzo illustrated his eye for goal when he scored 14 times as St Gallen won promotion to the Swiss top flight in 2008/09; matched that tally the following season.

• Joined Young Boys in summer 2010 and made seven appearances as the Berne club reached the UEFA Europa League round of 32.

• Made his first competitive appearance for Switzerland in their opening UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier, a 3-1 loss to England.
