• A holding midfielder who can also play at the heart of defence, Chesnakov made his top-flight debut in October 2007 and started to cement his place in the first team from the second half of the 2008/09 season.

• Helped Vorskla win their first major trophy, the 2009 Ukrainian Cup, playing in every minute of the 1-0 final win against FC Shakhtar Donetsk; then featured as a late substitute in a 2-1 win against SL Benfica in the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League play-offs.

• Missed only one U21 qualifier en route to the 2011 finals (a 3-0 win in Malta) and scored twice in a 2-2 draw against France.
