Italian champions AC Milan have signed Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng from Genoa CFC for a reported fee of around €7m as they go in search of their first European title since 2007.
The 24-year-old midfielder had spells with Portsmouth FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC in England before joining Genoa in August 2010. Boateng then immediately moved to San Siro on a season-long loan deal where he made 26 league appearances as Massimiliano Allegri's side claimed their first Scudetto in seven years.
Boateng will join Alberto Paloschi in the Rossoneri squad for the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League group stage after the 21-year-old forward was recalled following three seasons on loan at Parma FC and Genoa.
Milan are also reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Genoa to sign playmaker Stephan El Shaarawy, 18, in a co-ownership deal with German midfielder Alexander Merkel going the opposite way. A lifelong Milan fan, El Shaarawy scored seven goals in 25 Serie B games on loan at Calcio Padova 1910 last season.
