Bayer 04 Leverkusen have brought in goalkeeper David Yelldell from German Cup finalists MSV Duisburg.

The United States international, who won his first cap on 29 March against Paraguay, will sign a three-year deal subject to passing a medical. The 29-year-old moves for an undisclosed fee having joined 2. Bundesliga outfit Duisburg – beaten 5-0 by FC Schalke 04 in May's cup final – from TuS Koblenz last summer.

"In David Yelldell, we have added an experienced goalkeeper to our squad," said Leverkusen executive director Wolfgang Holzhäuser. "With him, Fabian Giefer and René Adler we are well prepared in this important position for the upcoming challenges."

Yelldell, whose former clubs also include SV Stuttgarter Kickers and Blackburn Rovers FC, was ever-present in the league last term, making 34 appearances as Duisburg finished eight in the second division. On Tuesday he will travel to Austria for Leverkusen's pre-season training camp, with his new team starting their UEFA Champions League campaign in the group stage.
