FK Viktoria Plzeň forged into the UEFA Champions League play-offs after building on a 1-0 first-leg lead against Rosenborg BK, though it took a half-time change of tack to propel them forward.

A defence-minded Plzeň side looked comfortable sitting on their lead until Rosenborg's Mikael Lustig forced the issue, equalising the score over two legs a minute before half-time. Marek Bakoš and Daniel Kolář headed the home side back in front, and while Rade Prica struck to keep the Norwegian side in the game, Milan Petržela's strike finished them off.

Having seemingly done the difficult work in Trondheim last week, Pavel Vrba's side took a measured approach in the first half, and were on course to reach half-time with their aggregate lead intact until Lustig ghosted past two defenders to beat Michal Daněk in the Plzeň goal.

Plzeň emerged after the interval with a more aggressive mindset, and captain Pavel Horváth laid on a splendid cross for Bakoš to head them back level on the night, with David Limberský then producing a similarly irresistible delivery from the left for Kolář to nod in a second.

Prica conjured up a brilliant effort for Rosenborg's second of the night, but within a minute Petr Jiráček's inviting pass set up Petržela to round off the scoring and settle the tie.
