Brazilian forward Carlão has joined UEFA Europa League play-off contenders SC Braga from Japanese side Kashima Antlers on a season-long loan with the option of a permanent deal.
Carlão, 25, should be familiar with playing in Portugal having scored 27 goals in 55 league appearances during three seasons at UD Leiria before his move to Japan. "It's an important step in my career," said Carlão. "Braga are a great club and I'm happy with the choice I've made. I had a very good spell at Leiria and I want to do even better here."
Braga have also signed 22-year-old Nigerian forward Samson Kayode on loan until the end of the season from Spanish outfit Club Atlético de Madrid. Leonardo Jardim's side travel to Switzerland on Thursday for the second leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off against BSC Young Boys, with the tie evenly poised at 0-0.
