• Dortmund's draw against the side they began the day level with at the top of the Bundesliga table allowed FC Bayern München to leapfrog both to the summit.

• Jürgen Klopp's side have won six of their last nine games in all competitions.

• Robert Lewandowski, who scored the first hat-trick of his professional career when Dortmund beat FC Augsburg 4-0 on 1 October, has registered ten goals in 12 matches for the German title holders. His goal on Saturday was his first away strike in the league since 5 December 2010.

• Four-time winners Dortmund suffered their first German Super Cup loss on 23 July, going down 4-3 on penalties against Schalke following a 0-0 draw in Gelsenkirchen.

• Moritz Leitner missed the Mönchengladbach match with a spinal problem.

• Sven Bender is unlikely to play again this year after breaking his jaw in two places at Arsenal on matchday five.

• Neven Subotić has been ruled out until the new year after fracturing his cheekbone on 5 November.

• Julian Koch, out with knee ligament damage since February, is not in Dortmund's UEFA Champions League squad.

• On 1 December, Dortmund announced that midfielder Leonardo Bittencourt, 17, will join from second division FC Energie Cottbus next summer on a four-year deal.

• İlkay Gündoğan made his senior Germany debut as a late replacement in October's 3-1 win against Belgium.

• Rémy (ankle) and Morel (knee) missed the Caen trip after picking up injuries against PSG.

• Rod Fanni has not played since breaking a toe at Arsenal FC on 1 November.
