Turkey's qualification hopes received a major blow as they were left reeling by a late András Gosztonyi strike which gave Hungary their first win in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 7.

An inspired performance from captain Péter Gulácsi in the Hungary goal kept the visitors at bay in the second half, yet the hosts did threaten early on as Özkan Karabulut was forced into saves by Ádám Bódi and István Kovács. Emre Çolak responded, shooting just over, and Burak Kaplan forced a fine stop from Gulácsi.

The second half was one-way traffic and Hungary's Liverpool FC stopper denied Cenk Tosun numerous times. As Turkish frustration grew Hungary hit back. In the 81st minute Patrik Tischler's knock-down was received by Gosztonyi, who finished expertly from a tight angle.

It went from bad to worse for Turkey as Musa Çağıran picked up a second yellow card in the dying moments and they now sit three points behind section leaders Italy having played two games more.
