Madrid's Pepe and Coentrão out of Ajax game

Real Madrid CF will be without Pepe and Fábio Coentrão for next week's visit of AFC Ajax after the Portugal pair picked up muscle injuries during Sunday's Liga defeat by Levante UD.

Real Madrid CF will be deprived of defenders Pepe and Fábio Coentrão for next week's UEFA Champions League Group D meeting with AFC Ajax.

The Portuguese internationals, who both played throughout Madrid's 1-0 win at GNK Dinamo Zagreb on matchday one, picked up injuries during Sunday's 1-0 Liga reverse at Levente UD. Subsequent tests have shown that centre-back Pepe suffered a tear to his left thigh, while left-back Coentrão sustained a similar injury in his left calf. Neither player is expected to be available for the next two weeks.

José Mourinho's side welcome Ajax to the Santiago Bernabéu next Tuesday, 27 September, with Olympique Lyonnais then visiting the Spanish capital on 18 October.
