Miroslaw Sznaucner told UEFA.com it was a night to remember for PAOK FC after they beat Tottenham Hotspur FC 2-1 at White Hart Lane to book their place in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 from Group A. Tottenham, meanwhile, cited a slow start as being key to a defeat which left them needing to beat Shamrock Rovers FC and hoping PAOK defeat FC Rubin Kazan.

Miroslaw Sznaucner, PAOK defender
For us it is a great and historic victory. It is great for our fans, the players and everyone at the club. This victory means we are in the next round and that was our objective before the game so everyone is very happy. For every player it is a big victory and all the players will remember it for a long time. We defended very well and it is not easy to play for a long time with ten players [from the 37th minute]. In the second half Tottenham were pressuring us and created chances but they did not score so we are very lucky and very satisfied. Now we will wait for the draw but we do not care who we play, we are happy to go through. We want to win against Rubin and up to now we have not lost in the Europa League. At our stadium we will try to win and finish first in the group.

Costin Lazăr, PAOK midfielder
It is a very big victory for us as we did not expect to win here so we are very happy. We expect to win the next game against Rubin and finish top of the group because it is important to finish top. We have beaten Tottenham which is great for PAOK as a club and for the Greek people. Our fans are everywhere and there are always a lot of them. They are important for us because they give us confidence and without them I do not think we would have got such a good result.

Diego Arias, PAOK midfielder
I am happy with the victory, our fans will be happy with the game and the result. Scoring two goals was important for us and we are happy to have qualified for the next round. We will wait and see how far we can go.

Sébastien Bassong, Tottenham defender
It is going to be tough, our future is not in our hands but hopefully we will win our next game and Rubin will lose. We did not expect to be in this position because I think we have enough quality to go through. If we do not do enough then we will not go through – we have to win our final game and see. I was not surprised by how they started the game, we were sloppy and were punished in the first 15 minutes, you cannot afford to do that. When you concede two goals like that, it is very hard to get back into the game.

Jake Livermore, Tottenham midfielder
We are obviously very disappointed because we gave ourselves a mountain to climb after going two behind. We are a big club now and we want to win every game so I think we have a big enough squad to deal with the Europa League and stay focused on the Premier League as well. We will keep our fingers crossed for the next games but we have just got to go to Shamrock and do the business. We are all disappointed but now we have to get a result on Saturday [against Bolton Wanderers FC].
